Hadrians Wall Country 11: Just photos of Newcastle, cont

Focusing on the many bridges which cross the River Tyne gorge between Newcastle and Gateshead.

Underneath the Tyne Bridge you can see the Sage, Baltic and apartments built on the rejuvenated Gateshead banks of the river.

New York has its Brooklyn Bridge, Sydney has its Harbour Bridge and the bridge that symbolises Newcastle is its Tyne Bridge.

The 'blinking eye' pedestrian bridge tilts back to allow ships up to 75-feet tall to pass underneath.

Another bridge that moves, this one is the low-level Swing Bridge that swivels out of the way for river traffic. I recommend a visit to this link for lots more information and photos about this unique cityscape.
