Just photos of Madrid

Apologies for the hiatus, we were in Madrid for 5 days and on coming back home my blog went on the fritz. I'm a blogger, not a computer programmer, and it took me awhile for me to find out how to fix things, so thanks for your patience.

First impressions of Madrid:-

• An enormous airport;
• A compact city centre (smaller than the airport??);
• A clean, fast, cheap underground system;
• Streets buzzing with people for a change, instead of traffic!

Madrid is the first city break we had which was relaxing, where we had no trouble finding delicious food and where everything was within walking distance. It's also the first foreign city I've visited where I was comfortable speaking the local language, which helped open some doors.

What I'll start doing in future editions of my blog is giving specific recommendations for places to eat and drink, as well as my usual opinions on local sights. So look forward to 'Best Of...' and 'Worst of...' travel tips coming soon.
